GTA 6 is 16 days away. And in the last few weeks, Rockstar has
told us more about it than ever before. Police dogs. Spike strips. Cars that need fuel. It even handed new gameplay to South Park. In GTA 5, you pressed one button
and drove off in anything. In GTA 6, you'll need a plan. So here's everything confirmed: 40 things
to know before day one, and at the end, the four things Rockstar
still hasn't told us. Let's start with the day itself,
because it's closer than you think. GTA 6 comes out on November 19,
on PS5 and Xbox Series X and S. That's thirteen years after GTA 5,
the longest wait in the series. It was delayed twice, but this date held. Planning a YouTube channel that makes
$2,000 to $10,000 a month, like this one? 90% of the work is fully automated. Join our Patreon for the full details. Next, when it actually unlocks. Rockstar hasn't published an hour, but
PlayStation Store listings point to local midnight, with New Zealand first. On the US West Coast, that's
nine PM on the eighteenth. And no, changing your
console's clock does nothing. Reviews are reportedly due on
the eighteenth, the day before. Then the pre-load, and
this one is official. Digital pre-orders can start downloading
on November 12, one week before launch. It stays locked until the nineteenth,
but when it opens, you press start, not download. Start on the twelfth, and even
a slow connection finishes in time. And you'll need the room. PlayStation Store data puts
the standard edition at 210 GB. That's Red Dead Redemption 2,
exactly double. That's about a third of a launch PS5. Rockstar hasn't confirmed it, so our advice
is to clear about 250 GB, to leave room for a patch. Now, if you're
buying the box, know this. There's no disc inside,
just a download code. Rockstar's own words: a disc
will not be included in the box. The box goes on sale on the
twelfth, on pre-load day. So if your box arrives on the nineteenth,
you're downloading at midnight. Then the editions. Standard is $79.99. Ultimate is $99.99, and it's digital only. Ultimate adds sixteen extras, and five
businesses that only open with Ultimate. There's no in-game cash on
that list, and no extra story. It's things like Rideout Customs,
a tattoo parlour, and a salon. And no edition comes with early access. Everybody starts at the same time. And there's a bonus with a deadline. Buy before November 20, and you get the
Vintage Vice City Pack, a '55 Vapid Stanier, a garage at Shore Court, and outfits. So even if you buy on launch
day, you still get it. Digital pre-orders also
get a free month of GTA+. But that's for GTA Online, not GTA 6. And that brings us to
the last launch fact. Rockstar calls GTA 6 a
single player experience. No online mode, and no PC
version, has been announced yet. That's eight things, and we
haven't even reached Vice City. So let's go to Vice City,
and the state around it. Rockstar told Edge that Leonida is
roughly twice the size of GTA 5. Its landmass is nearly as big as
GTA 4, GTA 5 and Red Dead Redemption 2 combined. So the drive from downtown Vice
City out to the Keys is a real trip. And it isn't one city. There are six regions: Vice City, the
Leonida Keys, Grassrivers, Port Gellhorn, Ambrosia, and Mount Kalaga National Park. The Keys are where Jason lives,
working for local drug runners. Ambrosia is the industrial heart, with a
sugar refinery and a biker gang, and Port Gellhorn is Leonida's forgotten coast. Vice City is still the only big city. The rest is swamps, beaches, forests, and
small towns, and Rockstar's own page warns that the Grassrivers swamps have
alligators, and probably armed outdoorsmen. Then, what's inside. In GTA 5, most buildings were shells
you could only look at from the street. Aaron Garbut says GTA 6 has an
order of magnitude more interiors. And every back alley is
as detailed as the next. Next, the weather. Clouds move on their
own, so you can watch a storm roll in, and drive straight into it. Roads get wet, buildings drip, and
every surface dries at its own pace. Fly through a storm, and planes and
helicopters get buffeted, and can even take light damage. In GTA 5, rain
just made the roads shiny. And time moves slower. A GTA 5 day took 48 real minutes. When Rockstar tried that in Leonida, Rob
Nelson says everything felt too fast. So sunsets linger, nights stretch, and
a night drive really is a night drive. And it's full of life. Game Informer counted over 170 animal
species, including more than sixty kinds of birds. Some are tracked as rare,
discoverable, or legendary. And it's reported that hunting is a money
maker, while fishing is catch and release, so the fish are one thing you can't keep. Now the two of them,
and how you play them. You can switch between Jason and Lucia almost
any time, though the story can lock it now and then. When you're not playing
one, they keep their own schedule. Switch, and they might be at
home, or out on their own. But that partnership cuts both ways. If either of them gets arrested, it's
busted for you, even if the other one got away. Picture Lucia safe in a car three
blocks away, while Jason gets cuffed. That arrest counts for both of them. Then the relationship. Their
closeness has four levels. It grows with beach walks, cycling, the
gym, or just driving around together. Ignore your partner's texts, and
the relationship takes a hit. And yes, robbing a store
together counts as quality time. And it's your call. They always stay partners in crime, but
whether they're a couple is up to you. Nelson's words: don't bother
with it if you aren't. Up to you. And asked about marriage,
he wouldn't confirm or deny it. Then, the kind of criminal you become. The game tracks it on a scale, with an
angel icon at one end and a devil at the other, from Professional to Irredeemable,
and Rockstar says it influences how the story unfolds. So how you behave matters,
not just which missions you finish. And that story has a twist
on the usual GTA goal. In GTA 5, the goal was
more money and more power. Here, quitting crime is part of the theme. Nelson's words: but what if these
characters want something else? It's yours to keep, he
says, or yours to lose. Now the police, and this is
where GTA 5 habits will hurt. A crime only counts if someone
sees it, or an alarm goes off. And hollow white stars mean the
police don't know who you are yet. Nelson says Rockstar wants hit and run
play: commit a crime, leave before the cops arrive, and you're usually fine. And the wanted level now
goes up to six stars. Then the heat. The icons at the top of
the screen are the police report: your description, your partner, your
clothes, a camera, and your weapon. In GTA 5, you broke the
line of sight and waited. So now you shed it piece by piece. In GTA 5, your outfit
never mattered to the cops. In GTA 6, glasses and a cap don't fool
them, because they still know your outfit. But buying and wearing a
new outfit removes the heat. So does splitting Jason and Lucia
up, or a car they haven't seen. And don't count on your car. At three stars in the city, Nelson says
it can be hard to get away in a vehicle, unless it's very fast, or a sports bike. His advice: get off the streets,
on foot, through alleys. But on foot, watch for this. In Rockstar's demo, the police laid a
spike strip across the road, and Jason's motorbike tyre blew. Then he ran, and a police dog caught
him and pinned him to the ground. That was the end of that getaway. So get out of sight
before the dogs arrive. And one for the brave. While officers made an arrest in the
street, Nelson walked up to their unattended car, opened the boot,
and took the shotgun. The police are busy with their own jobs,
and if you're careful, you can work around them. Now cars, and they're
not one button anymore. Older cars need a slim jim, prestige cars
need a key cloner, and some stay locked until later in the story. With a driver inside, you can just
aim a gun and tell them to get out. Pull a driver out, and Edge says
some are armed and fight back. And some stolen cars carry trackers, with
a blinking red light at the bottom of the screen. Drive too slowly, and
the police know where you are. So if you see that light, floor it. Then, the gauges. Every vehicle
shows fuel and engine health. GTA 5 had neither. The good news: a tank
lasts a long way, and filling up is quick. Check the gauge before
the job, not during the chase. And here's a new one. Open the Scooter Bros app, pay a fee, and
your car arrives in seconds, while the driver rides off on a scooter. If you played GTA Online, it's like
calling your mechanic, but with a delivery rider. And every gun you've
bought rides in the boot. And damage costs you. Fences pay for a car's condition,
so a wrecked car pays less. And high-end cars ping the police, so
you'll have to lose the tail before the drop-off. And money
matters more than ever. Nelson told IGN they've made
money matter more in this story. Some story missions stay locked
until you raise a set amount. No cash, no next job, so you rob a gas
station, a jewellery store, or steal a car for a fence. Nelson says you can rob pretty
much anything, even a shop that sells headphones. And it's reported that
cash on you is lost when you die. Money in the bank is safe, so bank it. Now the stuff that fills
your day between jobs. Overeat, and Jason or Lucia gains weight. That hasn't happened since San Andreas. Hit the gym together, and it's
a 2-for-1 on their stats. In the demo, a coffee boosted Jason's
stamina, and a protein shake buffed his health. Jason even smokes, with
cigarettes in his inventory. So coffee before a long
chase is now a real plan. And the people around you are watching. Rockstar made around 600,000 animations,
and a team in Los Angeles worked only on the pedestrians. Every one has a personality:
their temper, what they've seen, and how you've treated them. In the demo, Jason stared at a man too
long, and the man set his dog after Jason. And you don't always have to drive. Buses and trains actually work, and the
Extended Look even shows a red city bus rolling past. Phil Hooker, one of the
game's leads, has memorised the bus routes. And a ride-share app
doubles as fast travel. Then the radio. For the first time in
GTA, you can listen to the radio on foot, through headphones, and
there are podcasts on demand. Six stations are revealed so far, including
Flash FM and Dirty South Classics, and Rockstar's page hints
that more are coming. And Nelson says there are more radio
and TV ads than in any GTA before. And the last one is about your phone. Snapmatic is back, but you
can only browse and follow. In Nelson's words: you're
a couple on the run. You just lurk. Now the four things I
promised at the start. Rockstar hasn't said them,
so here they are, honestly. One: sixty frames. Development builds
reportedly ran at thirty, and Rockstar hasn't made any statement on the frame rate. Two: the PC date. GamesBeat
reports early 2027. Rockstar hasn't commented. Three: an online mode. Nothing is announced, for launch or after. And four: the official
size and unlock hour. Both numbers so far come from store data. We'll tell you the moment
any of these changes. So, the short version. Pre-load on the twelfth,
and clear 250 GB gigabytes. Buy before the twentieth for the bonus. Don't stare at strangers, don't run from
dogs on foot, check your tank, bank your cash, and watch your profile. Rob Nelson's last word to
Edge was simple: it's ready. So which of the 40 surprised you most? Tell me in the comments. GTA 6 is out on November 19. And for the full story of Rockstar's
90-minute demo, watch 25 new details from the demo. It's on screen now. See you in Vice City.
